Martin County’s Makenna Marcum set to Make Major Impact for the Lady Cardinals

After a historic 8th-grade campaign, Martin County standout Makenna Marcum is gearing up for her second season at the high school level — and expectations are high.

Marcum, who averaged nearly 20 points per game while running the point for one of the region’s premier middle school programs, has already proven she can compete with older players. As just a 7th grader last season, she averaged 5 points per game for the Lady Cardinals varsity squad, shooting an impressive 37.1% from three-point range (second-best on the team) and 76% from the free-throw line.

Armed with a strong basketball IQ, sharp shooting ability, and poise beyond her years, Marcum looks ready to take on an even larger role this season. Coaches and fans alike expect her to be a key contributor to a talented Martin County team with big goals ahead.

There’s no doubt — this young guard has the skill, confidence, and work ethic to be one of the region’s brightest stars for years to come.
