Listen to my interview w/ Coach Jordan Bushrod!

Coach Jordan Bushrod shares his journey from growing up Prince George’s County Maryland to becoming the Head Coach at Cheney University.

Jordan started high school at Westlake HS before transferring to Fork Union Military School, after graduating he attended Bowie State University, he then transferred to Delaware State.

While at Delaware State he played for different coaches [Keith Walker and Eric Skeeters] prior to becoming a Graduate Assistant under Coach Skeeters.

Jordan joined the coaching staff at nationally ranked Legacy Early College in South Carolina prior to joining the staff at the College Southern Maryland. He also served as the Head Coach for the Southern Maryland Heat boys 17U AAU basketball team while coaching at the College of Southern Maryland.

Coach Bushrod was introduced as the Head Coach at Cheney State University (D2) in October of 2024.

Maddi Frohnapfel

Class of 28 | 5’11” Point Guard | Hazard High School

The Hazard Lady Bulldogs are looking forward to an exciting season, and sophomore point guard Maddi Frohnapfel is expected to be a key piece in their success. Standing at 5’11”, Frohnapfel has spent her offseason putting in the work to elevate her game and prepare for the challenges ahead.

Her summer was filled with strength training at Hayes Training, skill development with Carla Booth’s OnPoint Ballers, open gyms with college-level players, and competitive travel basketball. She also gained valuable experience in the Elite 40 league, where she earned All-League Honorable Mention honors after shooting better than 40% from three-point range and recording multiple double-doubles. Her standout performance came against national powerhouse SLAAM Basketball, where she poured in 30 points, hitting 7-of-8 from beyond the arc.

Beyond her scoring ability, Maddi’s unselfish play and court vision have made her a true leader on the floor, consistently creating opportunities for her teammates and setting the tone for the Bulldogs’ offense.

With all the time and effort she has invested, Frohnapfel is ready to step into a bigger role this season. Under the direction of head coach Todd Howard, the Lady Bulldogs are poised to take the next step — and Maddi will be right in the middle of it.
