I just ran into one of the dumbest wildlife ideas I’ve ever seen in Florida — and trust me, that list is long.

Apparently the new “save the bears” strategy is to offer hunters $1,000 to not use their Florida bear permits.
A thousand bucks… to sit at home.
Not wildlife management. Not science. Not conservation.
Just emotional bribery wrapped in a vegan hug.

Meanwhile, the folks who actually DO wildlife management — the men and women at FWC out in the woods doing real work — have to deal with this level of nonsense on social media every day.
Respect to the professionals holding the line while everyone else plays pretend.

I tried to comment.
Tried to bring some law, logic, and common sense into the conversation.
And they blocked me faster than a toddler hiding crayons after drawing on the walls.

Let me go ahead and say what everyone’s thinking but is too polite to type:

This ‘$1,000 to not use your bear tag’ idea is quite possibly the most brain-dead, low-IQ, bottom-shelf stupidity this platform has coughed up in months — and that’s REALLY saying something for Facebook, where half the users spell ‘bear’ like ‘bare.’

You’re proudly advertising an illegal activity under Florida Statute 379.354 like it’s a charity drive, and somehow completely unaware that it makes you look like someone who got a participation trophy for surviving kindergarten.

You’re not buying conservation.
You’re not buying results.
You’re buying the illusion that you know what the f*** you’re talking about.

And this sad little ‘We’re not buying the tag… we’re buying their choice’ spin?
That’s the kind of thing someone says right before they get scammed out of $600 on Marketplace.
It’s not clever — it’s the verbal equivalent of licking a frozen pole because someone on the internet dared you.

Meanwhile actual FWC officers — people with real jobs, real training, and real responsibilities — are out in the woods handling REAL wildlife issues, and then they log onto Facebook and see this carnival of dumbassery.
No wonder they drink.
If I had to deal with people this proudly clueless, I’d keep a cooler in the truck too.

You’re not saving bears.
You’re not helping Florida.
You’re not doing conservation.
You’re doing emotional ventriloquism with your wallet, hoping someone claps for you.

This entire idea is so embarrassing that if stupidity had a leaderboard, you’d be Top 5 and climbing.
