A new chapter begins for Launching the Lagoon. ✨
After an incredible festival journey, we’re excited to announce that Launching the Lagoon has officially wrapped its festival run, and Almost Fairytales Films is now actively pursuing distribution to bring this story to an even wider audience.
We’re especially honored that the film recently received national recognition through the American Planning Association Indiana Chapter’s Hoosier Planning Awards. The documentary was recognized with the Outstanding Outreach & Communication Award, celebrating the power of storytelling to connect communities with meaningful planning and public engagement.
The project also helped spotlight the collaborative effort behind the Outstanding Grassroots Initiative Award, recognizing the Lagoon Outlook Garden and Indiana’s first universally designed kayak launch.
This film would not have been possible without the vision and partnership of Nexus Strategy & Implementation, Gary Public Transportation Corporation (GPTC), Miller Beach Arts & Creative District, Causes for Change International, and the support of Indiana Humanities, whose commitment to Hoosier creatives helped make this project possible.
