It’s another beautiful Spring day here in Gastonia. It’s a little cooler compared to yesterday (65° F today compared to 80° F yesterday), but I’m not complaining. So far have made two confirmed QSOs on 70 cm this afternoon. Thanks to Rodney (W2ROD) and Jack (KG4BGA) for the QSOs. I have a work Zoom call at 5:15 PN EDT this evening, so I still have some time left to make more QSOs.

Check out my new QFX J-220BT radio! When I say this unit receives, I mean it: AM, FM, Shortwave 1 & 2, Cassette, MP3 via USB, Bluetooth, and SD card. This thing is incredible.

Huge thanks to Tim (WSDM786) for giving it to me! I can hardly wait to break this out at Summer Field Day this year—whether I’m jamming out or tuning in to some Shortwave action, this radio is going to be a blast.

Been active on 70 cm this morning and afternoon, with three QSOs. Thanks to Johnny (KQ4UHS) for the contact this afternoon, amongst other operators.

Very low Relative Humidity values in the 15-25% range combined with occasional wind gusts around 15-25 mph and dry fuels will result in increased fire danger across the western Carolinas and northeast Georgia from noon to 8pm on Wednesday.

It’s a beautiful day for ham radio. I’ve been out here this afternoon making several contacts on 70 cm. Thanks to everyone who took time out today to talk and chew the rag with me. I’m not done yet so hopefully I will make some more contacts today. 73 everyone!!!!
