🌧️ We’re under a Tropical Storm Warning which means we’ll be dealing with tropical storm-force winds.
Here’s how to stay safe and prepared:
1. Stay Informed📲: Keep up with local weather updates by tuning into your local new station or using a reliable weather app. Remember to turn your notifications on for up-to-date information!
2. Prepare an Emergency Kit 🧰: Stock up on essentials like non-perishable food, water, flashlights, batteries, *medications* and a first aid kit to last at least 72 hours. Have important documents ready in case of power outages.
3. Secure Outdoor Items 🏡: Bring in outdoor furniture, secure potential runaway trampolines and trash cans, anything that could blow away. Trim trees (overgrown branches) and clear gutters to reduce the risk of flooding.
4. Communication Plan 📞: Make sure your family knows how to stay in touch and where to meet if needed. Have backup phone chargers handy! Consider solar powered chargers or power bank/portable charger.
5. Stay Off the Roads 🚗: Avoid driving during the storm unless absolutely necessary. Stay OFF your phone and be on the look out 👀 out for downed trees and power lines.
6. Keep Pets Safe🐾: Make sure your pets are secure inside and have enough food and water.
7. Protect Livestock and Farm Animals🐄: Ensure that all livestock and farm animals have access to safe shelter during the storm. Provide adequate food, water, and bedding to keep them comfortable and secure during the storm.
Stay indoors, stay safe, and be prepared, Gaston County! 💪
