Herald Times wins Michigan Newspaper of the Year

The Ga***rd Herald Times won Michigan’s Newspaper of the Year in its class for the 24th time in 28 years during the Michigan Press Association’s annual convention in Grand Rapids Thursday.

The Herald Times won the Better Newspaper Contest in the Weekly Class C division.

“I am proud of our staff,” said Jeremy Speer, Herald Times editor. “Our talented reporting staff has allowed us to emphasize enterprise reporting in the past few years, and it’s nice to see some of our larger projects win awards. Beyond those listed on the awards, there are a lot of people responsible for this award, and we are also very thankful for our community and readers.”

Reporter Arielle Breen picked up a pair of first-place awards in the Business/Agriculture Reporting category for her series on public lands and timber (https://bit.ly/2SrtrOB ) and News Enterprise Reporting category for her series on oil and gas (https://bit.ly/2yMEKHF ).
