Lake Waramaug, once choked by algae and near ecological collapse, is now a pristine Connecticut treasure thanks to five decades of science-driven restoration. The Lake Waramaug Conservancy’s innovations—like aeration systems, invasive plant removal, and land preservation—have restored water clarity to 19 feet. Today, it thrives as a haven for recreation and conservation, inspiring community stewardship.

Litchfield County Restaurants Reopen with Outdoor Seating

Litchfield County boasts a robust and diverse food scene. While each of its eateries has been impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak, restaurants have adapted, many welcoming customers back today.

Sitting above Lake Waramaug, the Hopkins Inn will resume normal hours on May 20th. They will only be seating guests on their outdoor patio. The Inn is known for its incredible views and accompanying fantastic food, a mélange of European fair.

Nestled in a quintessential old New England house in Bantam, the Mockingbird Kitchen and Bar aims to play on global culinary traditions with local resources. They plan on opening their patio to customers as well, and will continue contactless take out.

The Bridgewater Village Store and Bistro returns customers to its outside arrangements. The restaurant doubles as a general store and cozy community hub, serving its unique takes on classic sandwiches at lunch and upscale dining at night.
