In Salisbury, Anne MacDonald lovingly restored a historic stone boathouse on Washinee Lake, transforming it from disuse into a striking space for summer gatherings. With the help of local artisans, she preserved its original charm—fireplace, wood paneling, and all—while adding subtle modern touches. Today, the boathouse is both a social haven and a return to her rowing roots.

Litchfield County Restaurants Reopen with Outdoor Seating
Litchfield County boasts a robust and diverse food scene. While each of its eateries has been impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak, restaurants have adapted, many welcoming customers back today.
Sitting above Lake Waramaug, the Hopkins Inn will resume normal hours on May 20th. They will only be seating guests on their outdoor patio. The Inn is known for its incredible views and accompanying fantastic food, a mélange of European fair.
Nestled in a quintessential old New England house in Bantam, the Mockingbird Kitchen and Bar aims to play on global culinary traditions with local resources. They plan on opening their patio to customers as well, and will continue contactless take out.
The Bridgewater Village Store and Bistro returns customers to its outside arrangements. The restaurant doubles as a general store and cozy community hub, serving its unique takes on classic sandwiches at lunch and upscale dining at night.
Bohemian Pizza’s quarantine routine warrants its name. The Litchfield establishment holds outdoor socially-distant picnics alongside its quirky and delicious thin-crust pizzas. They will begin normal service, but only at their outdoor tables.
Serving its fresh seafood in the heart of the county, the Litchfield Saltwater Grille will begin welcoming customers to its outdoor tables. Their varied menu includes vegan and vegetarian options along with their superb pescatarian options.
John’s Café of Woodbury will also open Wednesday. Its cozy, bistro-style American food with touches of the Mediterranean makes for wonderful summer lunches, which they will be serving on their porch with adjusted hours.
Upper Crust Cucina of New Milford will welcome back customers today as well. Serving lovely salads, pastas and pizzas, Upper Crust is one of many examples of delicious Italian food in Litchfield County, and their porch will be open for us to enjoy.
Perched in the center of New Preston, The Owl Wine Bar captures guests with its social setting and local and international wines and beers. It is set to reopen its doors, with an adapted menu and hours in its outdoor arrangements.
A gorgeous and cozy stop in Salisbury, The White Hart Inn is beloved by local residents and weekenders alike. Its restaurant and café will continue serving their modern American menu on their numerous porches and lawn.
Community Table in Washington will also resume pre-COVID-19 hours, though only outdoor seating. CT is renowned for its locally-sourced modern American menu, a celebration of regional flora and tastes.
