Some may say that there’s a stark difference between Woodstock ‘69, centered around ideals like peace and love, compared to modern musical festivals today. For example, Coachella is overrun by social media influencers who pay high rates for tickets. This doesn’t really promote inclusivity. What do you think? Read more online!

College updates medical leave of absence policy to aid students who struggle with mental health issues

Geneseo has updated its medical leave of absence policy to accommodate more to students struggling with mental health. The revised policy allows students greater leeway when they need to take a leave for medical purposes.

These changes in the policy were inspired by the Jed Foundation, a non-profit mental health group. They suggested these changes after evaluating the college’s mental heath services.

Click the link or grab an issue on campus to read more about these changes!

The college recently revised its policy for students who require a leave of absence. The revised policy allows students who encounter medical problems to take a leave with greater leeway.

The mascot of Geneseo's radio station, WGSU 89.3 FM, has been banned from Ice Knights hockey games. Genny, a spirited squirrel, would attend every home hockey game in the Ira S. Wilson Ice Arena.

After anger and confusion from WGSU fans, a petition has been made to bring Genny back.

Click the link below to read more about backlash from both the students and the station.

About Us

The Lamron was founded in 1922 by a small group of Geneseo students to cover the happenings around campus. Since then, we have grown to cover local and national news, sports, arts & entertainment and student life features. The name “Lamron” was chosen because it is the word “normal” spelled backwards. We strive to live up to our name, and provide our readers with unique student perspectives on topics that affect us all.

If you are interested in writing, editing, public relations, advertising or photography, join us at our weekly meetings every Thursday at 5 pm in the College Union Mailroom. All are welcome!

The views and opinions expressed in The Lamron are not necessarily those of the College. The Lamron is distributed free of charge to the Geneseo community every Thursday, except during examination and vacation periods. Funding provided by mandatory student fees and advertising revenue.

The views expressed in the staff editorial do not necessarily reflect the views of the entire Lamron editorial board.
