Gandy Dancer Literary magazine publishing fiction, poetry, CNF, and visual art. We welcome the work of student writers and artists from SUNY campuses.

We’ve titled our journal Gandy Dancer after the slang term for the railroad workers who laid and maintained the railroad tracks before the advent of machines to do this work. Most theories suggest that this term arose from the dance-like movements of the workers, as they pounded and lifted to keep tracks aligned. This was grueling work, which required the gandy dancers to endure heat and cold, rai

Another successful launch of Gandy Dancer! The launch party for 14.2 was arguably the biggest we've ever had and we're so happy to have been to put on such an event for everyone. Thank you to garden club for specially performing, to all of our contributors for making this issue everything that it is, and thank you especially to Rachel Hall for introducing Gandy Dancer to the world.
