The Highway 6 corridor was the battleground early this morning as 70 mph plus straight line winds wrecked havoc starting in Grafton and then through Fairmont and Exeter. The storm kept going through Friend and Milford and eventually Lancaster County too. The Village of Fairmont was still without power at 7:30 pm and Perennial crews were working in Grafton. Nearly Every yard in the communities has trees and limbs piled on the corners. The firemen and wives in Fairmont were taking a break after a full day of work and enjoying a burger. Clean up will carry on for days. Remarkably, very little crop damage has been noted. A center pivot system and a corner arm were down across from the POET ethanol plant. No injuries have been reported as well.

5:37am Saturday: Here is a look at some of the highest wind gusts that were measured/estimated with the storms that rolled through south-central Nebraska early this morning. The strongest winds were in northern Fillmore county (and have continued eastward from there).

Hello this message is from Fillmore County emergency management. A major wind storm has hit the northern part of Fillmore county From Grafton East Highway six may be closed from Grafton eastern spots, but we do know that the highway six is closed at the county line at ClayCounty east of there. major power lines are down trees are down. We ask that you please stay away from that area at this time and if we have further information, we will let you know thank you.…”
