Titans Roar Over Weekend with Two Wins and One Heartbreaking Walk-Off Loss
This past weekend, the Twin River Varsity Titans turned heads in the local sports community with a dominant showing—piling up two big wins before narrowly falling in a walk-off thriller. Their power-packed performance and gritty effort made for a weekend of baseball that locals won’t forget anytime soon.
Saturday Morning: Pierce Bluejays Bow to Titans’ Early Power (9–2)
From the opening pitch, Twin River showed they meant business. Adalyn Bishop launched a massive three-run homer to left field, setting the tone early. Not long after, Mya Ramaekers continued the offensive onslaught with a two-run blast in the second inning, giving the Titans an early and commanding lead. The firepower didn’t stop there—JLee Van Driel crushed a three-run shot to center in the fourth, sealing the Bluejays’ fate.
On the mound, Kaleigh Rickard turned in a solid performance, going three innings while allowing just two runs on four hits. Relief pitcher Caylyn Zoucha closed it out in style, preserving the win and a confidence-boosting 9–2 final score.
At the plate, the Twin River offense was firing on all cylinders. Kaylee Vering and Ramaekers both notched two hits, while Bishop and Van Driel each drove in three—keeping the crowd buzzing with every swing.

O’Neill Eagles Fall Prey to Ramaekers-Led Titan Offense (10-4)
The bats remained hot into late morning/early afternoon as Mya Ramaekers wowed again, racking up four RBIs from three hits and using everything in her tool belt—including a clutch sacrifice bunt and a timely double—to keep the scoreboard ticking.
Twin River struck early with contributions from multiple hitters: Ramaekers singled to open scoring in the first, Rickard laid down a run-producing bunt, and Bishop followed suit with another sacrifice. The early flurry set the tone, with Ramaekers tacking on another two-run squeeze in the top of the second to stretch the lead to 5–2.
On the mound, Laynie Allen delivered strong innings, striking out six and allowing just one earned run over five frames. Van Driel also had another standout game—collecting three hits and swiping three bases. Team speed was on full display as the Titans notched four stolen bases, meaning pressure was applied in every facet of the game.
On the other side, Rylee Selby hit a solo homer for the Eagles, while Brenna Davis and Tenzlie Sorensen collected two hits each—efforts that kept the game competitive, but ultimately couldn’t stem the Twin River tide.

Heartbreaker in Walk-Off Loss to Wayne (0-1)
The Titans found themselves in a pitcher’s duel with the Wayne Varsity Blue Devils—deadlocked at zero through six innings. Both teams traded zeros, setting up a tense final frame.
Unfortunately, Wayne delivered late. In the bottom of the seventh, Jordyn Gamble’s single brought home the winning run, lifting the Blue Devils to a dramatic 1–0 win.
Laynie Allen took the tough-luck loss for Twin River—going six and two-thirds strong, scattering six hits while striking out three. Briley Dohmen was one of the few rare bright spots offensively for the Titans, accounting for two of the team’s three hits. Despite tight defense and turning a crucial double play, Twin River came up just short in a game that could have gone either way.

Weekend Takeaway & What’s Next
For the weekend: Twin River’s bats were explosive, their pitching posed challenges, and their base-running pressure kept opponents off balance. What stood out most was the depth and balance they displayed—offensive power, smart baserunning, and effective pitching.
Looking ahead: The Titans now turn their focus to Monday’s showdown against the Yutan-Mead Varsity Patriots. If this past weekend is any indication, they’re poised to bring a potent combination of fire and finesse to the field
