This Orion 950 pinless moisture meter is a little too easy to use. Is that even a thing? No. I really like when tools just work. This one is pinless, meaning you don’t have to drive it into the wood, and this particular one can read up to 3/4” deep. I’ve got a link in my bio to so go check out what they have to offer. Great products!

The next step in turning these blocks into a carved scoop is taking it to the bandsaw. I removed much of the waste and continued to refine the shape.

I did a little power carving recently. It’s messy, but always pretty fun to start with a couple of blocks of wood and in a couple of hours, have a finished project. We needed a large scoop for our catfood bin, so that’s what I’m making here. Full video on my YouTube channel...link in bio.

One of my gates was struggling. One of the posts had kind of sagged over the years and it was causing the gate not to close properly. I needed to get the old, broken concrete out of there and pour some new...after making the post plumb again, of course.
I grabbed some 3” PowerPro outdoor screws and used those for multiple things. First, I put one into the side of the post so I could secure a post level to it. Then, once I got it back into plumb, I hammered a stake into the ground and used the screws to secure a 2x4 between the stake and the now corrected post. I didn’t need that puppy moving while I mixed and poured concrete.
Then, once it all set up for a few days, I removed the screws and everything was right with the world. Well, ok...the gate was straight and operational again.

Restock my favorite cutting board feet with me.

We needed a scoop for our cat food. We keep a small bag of food handy in the kitchen cabinet, but we like to buy in bulk to save. With the tiny scoop we had, it took forever to refill the small bag. Not now! It takes about 3 scoops and we are done. Fanciest cat food scoop?

This is a throwback to last year when I made some friends this huge, live-edge cutting board. She uses this thing a ton still to this day, as is evident by all of the knife marks I saw on it just the other night. They held a party at their house and it was cool to see all of the use this board has received.
She never puts it away...just keeps it out on the counter and literally uses it for everything. That makes me happy.
Do you ever get to revisit old things you’ve made?
