* Effective this Tuesday morning and evening from 1145 AM until 800 PM EDT.

* Primary threats include...
Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely
A tornado or two possible

SUMMARY... Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are expected to move across the region this afternoon into early evening ahead of a cold front. Thunderstorm clusters will mainly pose a risk for damaging wind gusts, though a tornado or two also will be possible. This activity should move offshore this evening.

Strong Thunderstorms Could Bring Damaging Winds to Southern Delmarva Today

An upper-level disturbance moving east across the Carolinas and southern Mid-Atlantic will combine with an approaching cold front to create favorable conditions for thunderstorm development. Storms are expected to begin forming by late morning and early afternoon along and ahead of the advancing front before spreading eastward toward the Delmarva Peninsula.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.

* WHERE...Portions of southeast Maryland, including the following
areas, Inland Worcester, Somerset and Wicomico and Virginia,
including the following areas, Accomack, Charles City, Eastern
Chesterfield (Including Col. Heights), Eastern Ess*x, Eastern
Hanover, Eastern Henrico, Eastern King William, Eastern King and
Queen, Gloucester, Lancaster, Mathews, Middles*x, New Kent,
Northampton, Northumberland, Prince George (including Hopewell and
Petersburg), Richmond, Southampton, Suss*x, Western Ess*x, Western
Henrico (Including the City of Richmond), Western King William,
Western King and Queen and Westmoreland.

* WHEN...From 1 PM EDT this afternoon through this evening.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of low-lying and
flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and
urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected this
afternoon through early evening. Rainfall rates could exceed
2 inches per hour at times, with localized totals of 3 to 5
inches possible in a few spots. While antecedent conditions
have been dry, this would be enough to cause flooding in
urban and poor drainage areas.

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Southern Accomack County in southeastern Virginia, Northern Northampton County in eastern Virginia.

* Until 1000 PM EDT.

* At 907 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 10 miles northwest of Exmore, moving east at 35 mph.

HAZARD... 60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE... Radar indicated.

IMPACT... Expect damage to trees and powerlines.

* This severe thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of southern Accomack and northern Northampton Counties, including the following locations, Melfa, Harborton, Jamesville, Silver Beach, Wachapreague, Wardtown, Franktown, Accomac, Locustville, and Pungoteague.
