* Flash Flood Warning for...
West Central Bell County along the Lampasas River in central Texas...

* Until 930 AM CDT.

* At 625 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicate
very heavy rain has fallen in the headwaters of the Lampasas
River. Automated gauges indicate rapid rises to the Lampasas River
in Bell County upstream of Stillhouse Hollow Lake. Flash flooding
is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding near the river.

SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams
that feed into the Lampasas River. Low water crossing
will be submerged with swift moving water. Bridges
that cross the river may also become flooded.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Harker Heights, Stillhouse Hollow Lake, Ding D**g, Maxdale and
Youngsport.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Dangerous flash flooding is occurring or is imminent. Do not attempt
to travel unless you are fleeing flood waters. If you are in an area
subject to flooding, move to higher ground now.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles. Stay away or be swept away. River banks
and culverts can become unstable and unsafe.

The flood watch has EXPANDED to include the Waco, Temple and Killeen areas through tomorrow evening. Rainfall totals of 1-3 inches is possible with higher amounts up to 4 inches in isolated locations.

A Flood WATCH is now in effect until Sunday evening as a weak upper-level system approaching from the north, combined
with above normal moisture, will result in locally heavy
rainfall across the region today and Sunday. This rainfall, along with saturated soils, will lead to rapid runoff. Locally heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding across portions of south central Texas. Rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches with isolated amounts near 6 inches are possible.

A 40% chance of showers and storms today, otherwise mostly sunny with a high near 92 and heat index values up to 101.

* At 713 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of
rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are
forecast. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Killeen, Copperas Cove, Fort Cavazos and Kempner.

Good morning, we are waking up to some showers and thunderstorms on the western side of Bell county in Killeen and Fort Hood and also a few more smaller showers in Williamson County. Flood watches continues again today through 7pm

A flood warning continues for Western Williamson, NW Travis and Eastern Burnet counties until 6PM. Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...Austin, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Georgetown, Burnet, Bertram, Serenada, Anderson Mill, Leander, Lakeway, Lago Vista, Hudson Bend, Liberty Hill, Jarrell, Florence, Andice, Mahomet, Joppa, Oatmeal and Briggs.

Showers and thunderstorms will continue through this evening with locally heavy rainfall bringing a threat for flooding across portions of North and Central Texas. In the Flood Watch area, an additional 1 to 3 inches is likely (10% chance of 6 inches) in some spots. For elsewhere, isolated instances of heavy rain may occur, but with less recent rainfall, the overall flood threat is much lower.

A moderate risk has been issued by the WPC as more rain is expected to develop in the early morning hours.

Radar Update for Bell County:
Light to moderate showers are beginning to move in from the Fort Hood area. Expect off-and-on rain throughout the day. A Flood Watch remains in effect until 7 PM, so stay weather-aware and use caution near flood-prone areas.
