MESSAGE FROM A VISITOR

Hi,
I’m from near the Clemson area and was down this weekend on a mother-son weekend trip with my 7-year-old. We were at Wicked Tuna waiting to being seated and Officer (Robert) Tucker went out of his way to make my son feel special.

Anyone who knows my son, Gunner, knows he wants to be a policeman, actually he wants to be the chief.

Officer Tucker was making a round through the parking lot when Gunner saw him and started pointing and waiving at him. Officer Tucker blue lighted him and pulled over and waved him over. Before I knew it, Gunner was sitting in the patrol car as he was being shown the controls and all the buttons. Gunner was star struck.

Officer Tucker made my son’s year, basically. He has told everyone he comes in contact with about it. I just wanted to brag on your officer and how it’s awesome how he makes it a priority to be a good human. Kids like mine, want to grow up to be cops because of men like him.

OUR LONG-LOVED SHERIFF HAS DIED
Hearts go out to the family and members of GCSO

Georgetown County Sheriff A. Lane Cribb passed away today after a brief illness at the Medical University of South Carolina. Our hearts go out to the sheriff’s family and members of the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Cribb, 73, had been sheriff of Georgetown County since being first elected in 1992. He was re-elected six times. He was born Aug. 13, 1946, in Pleasant Hill and started his career in Law Enforcement with the South Carolina Alcohol Beverage Control as an investigator in 1973. He then worked as a Criminal Investigator with the Florence County Sheriff's Office, until he returned home to work as an Investigator with the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office.

Members of the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office will accompany Sheriff Cribb’s body back to Georgetown County today. Funeral arrangements are pending.
