Swimming Cat Studios

Swimming Cat Studios Production venue for quality writing, voice acting, and audio productions from Doc Coleman.

When I created Swimming Cat Studios, it was just an in joke. A One-man show to cover my artistic endeavors where we learned everything the way the cat learned to swim: by just jumping right in. Now we've doubled in size (We're a two-person show!) and we've branched out. We're still covering writing and voice acting by Doc Coleman, but now we've added Keetara Coleman's skills as a voice actress, and audio editor, and we're about to embark upon the realm of audio production, with two new productions coming up in the summer of 2012. But we can't do it without your support. So please tell us that you're supporting us, and you're interested in what we've got in work.

Mission: To provide quality written and audio entertainment.

Capclave time

This weekend, the fall convention season marches on. For me, that means that it is time for Capclave. I'll be there and I'll have books in tow. I'll have both copies of The Perils of Prague and The Shining Cog and Other Steampunk Tales for sale and available for signing. But you'll need to catch me quickly, because I'm on a LOT of panels this year, and most of them are back to back. [ 842 more words ]

Another successful book signing!

It was a steamy day at the Maryland Renaissance Festival, but there was enough of a crowd that the book signing at Page After Page went well.

Last year we were rained out on Saturday and had to shift the signing to Sunday. Despite that difficulty, we still sold 15 copies of The Perils of Prague last year.

This year, we had the luxury of an author's tent, providing us with shade from the sun and protection from the rain. If only there had been a steady breeze we would have been quite comfortable.

We had a good mixture of new readers and friends returning to pick up the new book. We sold all 10 copies of The Perils of Prague that were in stock, plus six copies of The Shining Cog and Other Steampunk Tales. A few copies of The Shining Cog were left over, and they'll go on the Page After Page shelves for the rest of the season.

All in all a good event. Slightly better that last year, even though I believe the crowd was slightly smaller. Looking forward to next year's signing.

Convention season is upon us once more. For me, that starts this weekend with RavenCon. In a few days I'll be putting the stresses of the past few months aside and heading to Williamsburg, Virginia for three days of panels, readings, workshops, and other fun. Which of my activities interest you more?

One of the suggestions that came up at Balticon over the past weekend was that I should re-make this page from focusing on my company, Swimming Cat Studios, to focus instead on Doc Coleman, Author. I thought I'd put it up to you folks who actually read these messages: Should I re-brand these pages, or should I create a new page for Doc Coleman, Author?

Thoughts?

BC50.2 – Interview with Bill and Gretchen Roper

Interview time again! Next up, we have this year's musical guests, filk artists Bill and Gretchen Roper. Bill has been active in writing, recording, performing, and publishing filk music for over 20 years. His particular sense of humor and his writing style have earned him the nickname “the Grim Roper”. If Bill’s singing alone, it’s not going to be good for the person he’s singing about. Gretchen has likewise been promoting filk for over 20 years, but when her voice enters the music, things take a decidedly comical bent.
