Traffic alert. Highway 77 between the 21 and Lexington is completely shut down due to a semi rollover. Avoid the area.

Avoid traveling eastbound on Hwy 290. Major wreck just east of Giddings. Firemen and law enforcement officers on the scene now. Traffic backed up to Giddings Plaza.

There is a very bad accident on highway 21, around the 5100 block in Dime Box. All lanes are blocked. Avoid the area.

On Thursday 4/25/2024, Tavion Malique Williams surrendered himself to the authorities in Midland, TX.

Williams was taken into custody by the Midland Police on his outstanding Lee County Capital Murder warrant late Thursday night.

He was transferred to Lee County on Friday, 4/26/2024.

Words from Garrett Durrenberger, Sheriff, Lee County:

“I want to be abundantly clear: If you engage in committing a heinous crime in Lee County; we are going to conduct our investigation and then we are coming for you."

“We will work tirelessly to uphold law and order, and we will not tolerate the actions of those who victimize our citizens."

US 77N is shutdown due to major accident. Northbound Traffic is being diverted at Main and independence Street (fm 2440) in Giddings. Southbound is being diverted to fm 1624 to highway 21. Driver was badly injured and flown by helicopter to the hospital.

The railroad crossing in Dime Box – FM 141 – is shut down and will be through this Saturday. Union pacific is replacing the rails that go through the intersection.
All traffic has to find an alternate route.
