Meet Your Community

Meet Your Community A community based social media magazine: We want to create that ‘sense of community’. Where it all began:

The .community idea. It immediately got my attention.

I was drinking my tea watching TV one evening. It was announced that the .community domain names were to be released. Having owned the Community Shopper Magazine for several years, it seem like a no brainer to take the magazine online. The new domains would give me access to areas where I could not get a printed version. I started buying them immediately. The idea was simple build something local

centric. Something which featured local characters – the people who live work and make the city what it is. Those who make you smile. Recognized people’s efforts. Spotlight business. Provided links to helplines. I wanted to use local talent to help me with this dream. That was a few years ago. Life took over. Weddings, funerals, running 2 print magazines and helping with my husband’s business, not to mention all the charity events I support. Everything was so time consuming. My idea ended up on the back burner. The .community family becomes a reality. I was sitting at a networking meeting in Gig Harbor when my phone dinged. I checked it as the meeting was ending. It was an email message telling me my .community domains were about to expire. At this point I owned 6. Having coffee with Robert at Tactical Social Media, I explained to him my dream and I might let it go. I didn’t have the time or talent to get things started. He looked at me and simply said “Are you stupid?”

Let me set the record straight. Robert and I are good friends (and he works on my online stuff). We talked and talked and talked……… after about 2 hours, my head was spinning. When we were done, we had the framework for my idea created and knew people with the talent to help put this together. The .community family was on its way, no longer an idea. And it has become more than I expected. Hello Lacey, WA. Why did we choose to launch with Lacey.community? Going to my current contacts in Gig Harbor and Tacoma would not be a real test of viability. I know almost no one in Lacey. If we could make this work in Lacey, with only limited connections, we could make it work everywhere. It seemed like a great idea. The website is done, the logo is done, the first blog article are done. Now we need your help. Be a guest blogger. Please tell us who deserves honoring. Tell us about an event you’re working on. Tell us what makes YOUR community such a great place to live, work and play. We are looking for those community based, local interest stories. Don’t fancy yourself a great writer? That’s OK. Our team will create a polished, professional final piece. You’ll get the byline. We’ll link it to your business or online bio. We’ll share it our social sites. You will stand out in your community. Help us tell everyone why Lacey, WA is a great community. Advertise. No good magazine, either print or online, can survive without advertising. What makes lacey.community unique is the unseen value we bring. Our advertisers are all local businesses, offered category exclusivity and additional blogging opportunities through spotlight posts. We will promote you through our social sites along with our resources and events. Our team will create the ads for you and optimized them with proper backlinks, improving your SEO as well as driving referral traffic. Contact us to learn how you can join us in making lacey.community your community resource. Annie and Robert

Are You Networking?

It's one of the best ways to

Some people are terrified of networking. I know I was in the beginning. Couldn’t let that stop me. To grow my business I knew I had to do something. I had to stop being passive and put myself where other business people were.

You may not be comfortable at first in a big group. I certainly was not. I could have started small but that’s not my style. Had to suck it up, walk in, stuck out my hand and introduce myself.

Are You Networking? Some people are terrified of networking. I know I was in the beginning. Couldn't let that stop me. To grow my business I knew I had to do something. I had to stop being passive and
