Tonight on The Halas Hall Hangover:
Chicago Bears preseason game No. 2 certainly didn’t go swimmingly.

After an encouraging preseason opener, the Bears took a step backward against Cincinnati. Mistakes, penalties, missed assignments, and a lack of ex*****on on both sides of the football defined a performance that left plenty to clean up heading into the preseason finale.

We’re going inside the game to break down what went wrong, what needs to improve, and which players still managed to impress despite the overall struggles. With the regular season quickly approaching, did this look like a team prepared to play winning football when the games start counting?

Then, we turn our attention to one of the biggest stories of Bears camp: No. 96, Jordan van den Berg.
The rookie defensive tackle has been turning heads on the practice field, and now he’s carrying that production into game action. Could Chicago have found its long-term answer at nose tackle? Could Van den Berg actually emerge as one of the Bears’ best defensive tackles already? And are we looking at one of the steals of the 2026 NFL Draft?
We break down Van den Berg’s rise, what he brings to Dennis Allen’s defense, and why the Bears may have uncovered something special in the middle of their defensive line.

Bears/Bengals reaction, players who stood out, what needs fixing before Week 1, and the emergence of Jordan van den Berg, tonight on The Halas Hall Hangover

Tonight on The Halas Hall Hangover:

Chicago Bears preseason football is officially underway — and after Ben Johnson said he wants the Bears to become the highest-scoring offense in the NFL, his team came out firing, putting up a league-high 34 points in their preseason opener.

Tonight, we’re going inside the game and breaking down everything we saw. Who shined? Who impressed us the most? Which players helped themselves in the roster battle, and who left us wanting to see more? And of course what new injuries occurred on Saturday!

We’ll hand out our Week 1 preseason game balls, discuss the biggest takeaways from the Bears’ first preseason matchup, and look at what this performance could mean as training camp rolls on.

We wrap up the show with some unexpectedly great news on Ozzy Trapilo. When Ryan Poles originally discussed the injury, the expectation was that Trapilo would miss most of the 2026 season. Instead, he’s already back on the practice field in mid-August.

We break down the remarkable turnaround, what it means for Trapilo’s development, and how his surprisingly quick return could impact the Bears’ offensive line moving forward.
And, as always, we want to hear from you. Jump into the chat, give us your game balls, tell us who stood out to you, and talk Bears football with us!

Tonight on the Halas Hall Hangover:

Chicago Bears training camp is officially underway, and injuries are already becoming a major storyline across the NFL.

During the Bears’ first padded practice, newly acquired safety Coby Bryant was carted off the field with an apparent knee injury. While Bryant reportedly avoided a season-ending setback, he is expected to miss 8–10 weeks with a bone bruise and small fracture. After signing a three-year, $40 million contract this offseason, Bryant was expected to play a significant role in Dennis Allen’s defense.

We break down what Bryant’s absence means for the Bears’ secondary, which players could step into a larger role, and whether Chicago should explore the free-agent market while he recovers.

We’ll also discuss the latest on Terrell Smith after he left practice with trainers, Kyle Monangai’s return from a soft-tissue injury, and the continued strong performances from Jaylon Jones at nickel and Cam Smith at safety.
