Breeding season did not go as planned this year for me, it was a rough one. Out of 6 breeding attempts (some were re-breeds), 1 stuck. Here’s the stats:
2 AI’s- 1 took and then slipped it between 14-30 days, 1 didn’t take at all (outside stallion)
4 live covers- 1 didn’t take at all (she didnt take with AI either) 1 that took but then slipped it between 14-30 days again. And 1 mare passed away before we could confirm a pregnancy. I like to think she didnt take because thinking otherwise would be even more devastating.
But……… I am SUPER excited about the 1 that stuck!! Check out the comments for color options cuz OH MY WORD! But this baby is going to be spectacular regardless of color. I am particularly excited because these 2 were born and raised here. This will be a true home grown foal!
Keep your fingers crossed for my one last ditch effort for a second baby. I have the mare that didn’t take 2X staying out with him. My vet couldn’t find any reason she didn’t take, so I’m hoping she will settle with this extra time with him 🤞🏻🤞🏻
