Celebrating 10 Years of Soul Gaze! ✨🎉

As we approach Thanksgiving this month, I’m filled with gratitude. Today marks the 10th anniversary of my small business, —a milestone I couldn’t have reached without the support of my family, friends, and amazing clients. Please head over to my page and give it a follow!

This decade has been an incredible adventure, full of ups and downs. While I’ve strived for perfection, I’ve also faced many failures. Each mistake has taught me valuable lessons that I apply to every new project. I’m thankful for every challenge that built my resilience and for every success that motivated me to keep moving forward.

As I wrap up two remaining projects, I’m excited to start 2025 with everything completed and fresh motivation for the next chapter. As a mother of two teens and a toddler, creating a legacy for them to be proud of is just as important to me as ensuring you have beautiful photos and a successful business to pass on to the next generation.

Happy Mother's Day!! I'm a day late posting, was spending the day with my family. 💖

My name is Amber and I'm not just a small business owner, I'm a mother of three. Being a mother is my primary job and it is for them that I started Soul Gaze. I wanted to be with my children as much as possible, so needed a flexible schedule. I'd been volunteering my skills since 2003, so was excited to register Soul Gaze Photography, LLC in 2014. November will be 10 years based in Glasgow, Kentucky! I still provide services on-location and remotely, rather than from a studio. I want to one day own a studio, but for now enjoy the adventure of traveling. I've been referring inquiries elsewhere since 2022 due to physical and mental health issues postpartum. I work by appointment and will be back to regularly scheduling photo sessions and new design projects in June, with limited availability. 📷✨

Soul Gaze has joined the Edmonton-Metcalfe Chamber as of December 2023! This makes the third chamber membership since joining Barren Inc. and Hart County Chamber of Commerce in previous years. Proud to be a chamber of commerce member and to support our local communities!

In 2003, Soul Gaze started out by donating services until listening to family, friends and clients who encouraged me to open a small business in 2014. Nearly a decade later, I still give back through affordable pricing, no-interest payment plans, volunteering, and trade for services.

November 19th marks the 9th birthday for Soul Gaze Photography, LLC. Prior to 2014, I'd worked for free and donated services to build my portfolio, then finally listened to the kind encouragement from family, friends and clients to start a business. Wow! Love the new mural at Lost River Cave! Totally enamored with the botanical vibe, especially the bat! 🦇 Worked several years as a bat monitor intern. I happen to love all things ecology as well as the Luna moth. Now I want one like this on my house! 😆 Whenever I get the funding for my own studio in town, I’m so doing this. So many murals going up in the area: which is your favorite?

This is so true. I lost my papaw, dad and aunt during the pandemic, all within three years. I have so few photos of them. I managed to take a professional photo of all but my aunt. She was so private and didn’t like the invasiveness of a camera. I too sometimes avoid being photographed. Having three children has made me a bit self-conscious. I’m fluffier that I like and I’ve aged. I keep waiting for when I’m back in shape. Even as a photographer, I too feel nervous sometimes being photographed and that’s ok. It’s honestly normal. We’re just ordinary people, not paid models or celebrities. So that we can both relax and have fun, I don’t rush sessions. What’s important is to be documented as we truly are for those we love. So that they will have tangible memories they can look back on. Life is so short, take many, many photos. 📸✨
