Kyleigh Satterwhite

Goals don’t lie, and neither does the media team. Kyleigh Satterwhite is a must-watch every single game. Although she just started her career in soccer, Kyleigh has been dominating the field. Starting at the age of 10, and initially wanting to try something new, her passion for the sport has picked back up this year. She has achieved many accomplishments throughout her four years of playing; her favorite one? Becoming a starter as a freshman on a varsity team. She has succeeded on the field so far, and she thanks her athleticism for her ability to be as adaptable as she is. Although she is adaptable, she faces challenging times. When asked how she stays positive during those challenging times, she said, “I just think about how grateful I am to be able to do it.” Through adaptability and perseverance, Kyleigh has managed to stay strong through it all. She improved quickly and would like to remind anyone who wants to improve to “just do your best and practice everyday.” A piece of advice means everything to Kyleigh, one that she was told that has stuck with her ever since is, “Never put your head down and just continue to try harder each day.” Sports can hold great meaning to an athlete in any kind of sport, it can also be impactful in many ways. When asked how being involved in soccer has impacted her life beyond just the sport, she replied: “It’s made me realize how thankful I should be for being able to do something I love.” Her experience so far can be narrowed down to a singular word. The word she chooses is “awesome.” When asked to explain why she chose “awesome,” she said, “I get to do a sport I love, and it has brought me many friends.”

Haddon Rowland

With quick thinking and even quicker feet, Haddon Rowland is a force to be reckoned with this season. Haddon is one of the captains of the BCHS Boys Soccer team. Influenced by his friends and family who played soccer, Haddon started playing at four years old and has continued his reign on the field ever since. When asked what keeps him passionate about soccer he said, “[I] just fell in love with the sport and just met all my friends through that and just continued to get better.” Through his 14-year journey through the sport, he has faced many challenges head-on. When asked what his biggest challenge was he said, “[Baker County] doesn’t have a lot of soccer, but developing and making my own pathway and helping Baker County grow as a sport in soccer.” When Haddon was younger his family moved from a smaller town in Mississippi named Vicksburg. Even though he has faced hard times, there are still moments that stand out to him. So far, his first ever district game stands as his favorite. When asked to explain further, he said, “It’s the first ever district game I’ve ever won personally being on the team, and that was just a great moment because we’ve only done it one other time, and it shows how the program is continuing to build.” Someone who heavily influenced him in his journey through soccer is his father, he explained, “Probably my dad, because he was my first coach. Taught me all the way up until the 4th grade and continued to be my number one fan in the stands, the classroom, and whatever I did.” He would like for future players to remember that it will be hard, but you have to have resilience and keep going no matter what. For him, something that he takes away from soccer would be accountability, which he later explained further, saying, “You have to be accountable for everything that you do… you’re only judged on your performance, not just judged on how hard you try, and it’s helped me also be a leader.” Haddon has had a memorable experience playing soccer, an experience that he describes with just one word: fun.

Spotlight on excellence - this week’s Wildcat of the Week has been making major moves! For Morgan McDonald, her cheerleading journey has truly been one to remember. From the first time she cheered under the Friday night lights, she knew she had found something special. Her loe for the sport started early - cartwheeling and flipping her way through childhood before realizing cheer was where she belonged. What keeps her passionate today are the friendships and memories she’s built along the way. But the road hasn’t a;ways been easy; Morgan has faced serious injuries, including a broken elbow, a torn ACL, and a torn meniscus. Through it all, she stayed strong-minded and determined, putting in the work to rebuild her strength and return to the sport she loves. Balancing school, cheer, and life can be challenging, but Morgan takes it week by week, focusing on priorities while still making time for herself and her friends. Her stepdad has been her greatest influence, teaching her to hold her head high no matter what others say. Morgan’s advice for those following her footsteps? “Be yourself in all that you do.” She believes cheerleading is about more than the skill - it’s about spirit, teamwork, and letting your personality shine. Guided by her coach’s reminder that “practice makes permanent,” Morgan carries those lessons both on and off the field. Through cheer, she’s learned the importance of teamwork and discovered that leaning on others can make everyone stronger. For Morgan, this chapter of her cheer career isn’t just about stunts and sidelines - it’s about growth, resilience, and unforgettable memories.

Through setbacks, hard work, and sheer determination, this Wildcat has proven what true determination looks like. For Michael Landers, football became a passion long before he ever put on the pads. “Watching my older brother play and watching the crowd cheering for him immediately piqued my interest in the sport,” he said. From that moment, he knew he wanted to be part of something bigger. His journey, though, hasn’t been easy. Michael faced one of his toughest challenges when he tore his ACL his sophomore year. “The most challenging part of my journey so far has definitely been tearing my ACL. I overcame it with hard work and dedication, along with countless hours in the gym regaining my strength back.” That drive paid off, and one of his proudest memories came soon after. “The moment that stands out as my favorite is when I was told for the first time that I would be a starter on Friday.” Michael credits his resilience and mindset to Adam Howard, a mentor he calls a second father. “He has taught me many things in life, but the one piece of advice that I will never forget is, ‘Lions don’t listen to sheep’s opinions.’” That wisdom has guided him both on and off the field. “It has taught me to be humble and work hard, even when everybody else isn’t,” he shared. His advice to others sums up his story perfectly: “Don’t listen to everyone else—work 100x harder than the people next to you.” For Michael, “competition fuels growth,” and his journey proves it every step of the way.
