“Cantate Domino,” translating to “Sing a New Song to the Lord,” captures the essence of its title through its composition by Vladimir Silva. Starting in the uncommon 7/8 time signature, it introduces a concise motif, alternating between Latin and English, setting the tone for its mixed-language style. Chosen by William Powell for his latest choral series, this motet stands out for its suitability in festival and concert settings. Its complexity ranges from medium to complex, challenging, and engaging for performers.
