I'm currently going through chemo and wanted something I could just do a bit at a time on. I also have loads of fat quarters and scraps to use up. My friend told me about Kinusaiga so I decided to give it a go. This is my first attempt and I'm pretty chuffed with it. I just need to figure out how to fix the pieces to the back to finish it off. I hope you all like it 🙂

The pile of placemats is slowly growing - current count at 136 - target is 500 made this year. I am using up fabric scraps, orphan blocks, applique and I have even disassembled a few quilt tops I won't get to quilt and have made them into placemats.

I am new to the group and just adore the scrappy dolls. I made my first one this weekend. I had just finished a Halloween quilt and had a pile of scraps so I used some of that and some scrap yarn and ribbon. I named her Betsy.

I make charity quilts for Quilts Beyond Borders and just had 19 picked up today. They will sent over to Gaza at the end of the week. The quilts are 40x60 and go to children. There is a label sewn on the back of the quilt for the child to put their own name onto it. I have had prior quilts go to children in Serbia refugee camps, orphanages in Israel and Egypt, Ethiopia, Navajo Nation, Ukraine refugees…. Check them out. They make sure the quilts actually get to the children…even have volunteers that carry the quilts in their own luggage if they are traveling to an area where QBB has contacts. With the world feeling as crazy right now, it really feels good to have the power to make a difference …one child, one quilt at a time.

Thanks for the idea on making thank you cards out of 1 inch squares. I glued the squares down to thin craft paper, zigzagged the seams and then zigzagged them on the card stock.
