Valued Customers and Partners,
“We have been informed that the French Weeklies and other select French Titles that currently arrive via air freight will now be sent via ocean freight. This will cause these titles to arrive later as the transit time is much longer by ship. This change was made by the Publishers in France as the air freight costs have become prohibitive.
In fact we had to plead and convince the French suppliers to switch to ocean freight instead of discontinuing the US shipments altogether. That eventuality may come if sales levels are not sufficient to support this segment. Titles affected include Le Point, Charlie Hebdo, Point De Vu, France Dimanche, Elle French, and others.
As you know, these niche titles have a limited demand and the current sales levels reflect that. Sales of these titles as well as all others have been even more scarce following the pandemic interruptions and closures.
We share your disappointment to get this news as sales will be impacted by the delay in reaching the Los Angeles market.
We ask that stores give these titles a prominent display and any efforts to promote sales of these publications will help us keep the French titles in the LA market. We welcome your input and feedback (in addition to any from your customers) and will share any and all feedback with the publishers. Suppliers, and decision makers.
You may wish to inform your regular customers that enjoy the French titles so they are aware of this change.
Despite this unfortunate development, we remain committed to serving our print media partners, retailers, and readers to the best of our ability.
We strive passionately to make every effort to help you maximize sales opportunities and contribute to your success. Particularly given the current conditions and reduction in business we are all trying to survive in. We do so in every aspect that we have influence or control over in the supply chain and marketplace.
Our strategies, systems, and philosophies are based on the understanding and that your sales of our products is critical to your success and as a result our success. We realize this is key to our ability to supply this community and have the privilege to serve you. Without your business and support, we would not exist.
As always, we appreciate your understanding and are grateful for your business.
Keep safe.
Sincerely,
Your Mader News Team”
