Join legendary sports broadcaster, actress, and cultural icon Jayne Kennedy Overton for an intimate Fireside Chat and Book Signing hosted by Dr. Marie Y. Lemelle, MBA, PhD, on November 20, 2025, from 6–9 pm at BLVKBOOK Gallery, Level 8, Beverly Center (next to H&M, near Macy’s Court). Red carpet arrivals: 6–6:45 pm | Media check-in: 5:30 pm. Park at Macy’s Court, Level 4 (Red Section) and take the Men’s Store elevators to Level 8.

Before becoming a memoirist, Jayne Kennedy made history as the first Black Miss Ohio USA (1970) and later as one of the first female and African American sports broadcasters on CBS’s The NFL Today (1978), breaking barriers and cementing her legacy as a trailblazer in sports and entertainment.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, the event will also service as a Gratitude Drive and collect the following:
Unwrapped new toys
Non-perishable food items
Baby essentials (diapers, powdered formula, clothing)

All donations will benefit families impacted by the January 2025 fires and support local nonprofits to ease the burden of halted financial assistance and furloughs.

Books will be available for sale on-site, and guests requesting a signed copy are kindly asked to purchase it at the event. Cashless entry fees are:
$70 – Includes book
$40 – Admission without book purchase
