We got a few deliveries of plants this week in the nursery and inside Cultivate Garden & Goods

Tomorrow is our Christmas in July event! Come check out the local artisans setting up 10am to 5pm!

Good evening friends! We are so excited for Saturday and our 'Christmas in July' Market! If it turns out its a rainy day, the artists will all be stationed inside. We've restocked our sun and shade perennials with some plants we haven't seen yet this year like Polygonatum biflorum (Solomon's Seal). We also have a small supply of Lupinus perennis (Sundial Lupine), Passiflora incarnata (Passionflower Vine), and Aristolochia macrophylla (Dutchman's Pipe) back in stock! Check out the inventory list below. Ari also restocked houseplants this week, stop inside Cultivate Garden & Goods and enjoy the greenery & ac!!

Time for my own landscape reno!! [I’M SO EXCITED!] I’ll write all about it in a blog just as soon as I have time in my busy schedule running this busy company lol. A big thanks to all of our customers and clients that keep us on our toes!!

I love that when you bring all the new native plants to a job site the pollinators arrive immediately, before the plants are even in the ground. It makes my job so rewarding. I’ve been impressed by my landscape team- their dedication to detail and level of tenacity in hot and humid weather.

I definitely fit as many native plants as I possibly could into these beds. I have a few old favorite non natives like peony, tree peony, climbing roses….a few deer resistant non invasive pollinator favorites like agastache, lavender, salvia, weigela and nepeta in my ‘deer buffet’ entrance garden beds where we are on our 3rd attempt at planting a beautiful deer resistant garden bed that the deer actually won’t eat. Fingers crossed.

Monarda fistulosa, or Wild Bergamot bringing the pollinators out in the front gardens! We’ve got quarts and plugs in stock at the Nursery :) Also Coreopsis verticillata, or Whorled Tickseed looking stunning through the heat and rain. Cianna is still looking for the straight species this year, it’s one of her favorites in the garden due to the long bloom time and deer resistance.

The answer to this week’s What is it Wednesday is a seed pod from blue flag iris (Iris versicolor)!

Pollinators including bees and butterflies are attracted to the flowers of this spring blooming perennial. Additionally, the dense foliage provides habitat for small creatures. Best suited for full sun to part shade and wet soils, but will also tolerate average soil moisture.

Some of my favorites are blooming right now in the perennial beds I have planted around my vegetable garden.
Could that Whorled Milkweed (Asclepias verticillata) be any cuter?
And the Gardenview Scarlett (Monarda didyma) has the best smell of all the Monardas.

The Rose Gentian is flowering! We only have this biennial plant available in plugs. This will seed its self in your garden this year, but only if you plant it now!!!!

We are open until 4pm today. We’ve got great planting weather!

So it’s July and you still have a pile of plants somewhere waiting to be planted?
Yeah, me too…
This is a photo of my pile (up on pallets to make watering the pots easier to access)

I’m always so ambitious at the beginning of the season.

This is just to say don’t worry about it! You can still be planting in the middle of summer.
Remember to water in your plants thoroughly at planting time, even if it’s has rained or even if it’s going to rain.
