ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The Christopher Newport University men's basketball team has dropped its last two games, and the Captains look to return to the win column on the road Wednesday night. The Captains, ranked ninth in the pre-season poll from D3hoops.com, take on the Battling Bishops of North Carolina Wesleyan University at Everett Gymnasium. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m.

Christopher Newport is 1-2 so far, and fell at home to second-ranked Randolph-Macon College last Wednesday night, 71-65, and then suffered an 84-74 defeat at 22nd-ranked Catholic Univwersity on Saturday in Washington, D.C.

Christopher Newport games are broadcast live on the Home of the Captains, Xtra 99.1 FM and CNUsports.com. The pre-game show will begin at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday night

Following Wednesday's game, the Captains return to the Freeman Center this Saturday to take on Cairn University. Tip off is set for 4:00 p.m.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Christopher Newport University men's basketball team looks to bounce back from its first loss of the season, as the Captains travel to play the Catholic University of America Saturday. Tip off is set for 3:00 p.m. at Franny Murray Court on the Catholic campus.

John Krikorian's Captains, ranked ninth in the pre-season poll from D3hoops.com, fell to second-ranked Randolph-Macon College at the Freeman Center on Wednesday night, 71-65. The loss evened CNU's record at 1-1 to open the new year. The Captains traveled to Pennsylvania and beat Penn State Altoona in their opener, 86-67.

Through the opening two games, the Captains have been led in scoring by juniors Tyson Henderson and Toa Hollenebeck. Henderson is averaging 12.5 points per game while Hollenbeck is scoring 10.5 points per outing. CNU has been led in the rebounding column by senior Collin Hines, who is pulling down 6.5 boards per game so far.

EWING, N.J. - The regular season comes to a close for the Christopher Newport University football squad Friday night, as the undefeated Captains travel to play the Lions of the College of New Jersey. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. at Lions Stadium.

Paul Crowley's squad is 9-0 and 6-0 atop the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC), and has already been assured of a share of the league title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship. The Captains are ranked seventh in the country in the weekly poll from D3football.com and eighth in the nation by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA). It's the highest ranking in the 25-year history of the program, and the Captains have now matched the school's all-time mark of victories in a season that was set in 2004 when CNU finished 9-3 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The 2025-2026 Christopher Newport University men's basketball home schedule tips off with a bang Wednesday night at the Freeman Center, as the Captains entertain the second-ranked Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon College. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.

The Captains, 1-0, were ranked ninth in the pre-season poll from D3hoops.com. John Krikorian's team opened the new season on Friday night with an 86-67 victory at Penn State Altoona, as the Captains had four players reach double figures in scoring. Junior Toa Hollenbeck came off the bench to lead the way with 13 points, as the Captains opened their 58th season of action in program history. The Captains shot 48 percent (35-of-73) from the field, and made seven-of-30 from long range. CNU held a 51-27 advantage on the boards for the night in the opener.

Randolph-Macon is 2-0 so far, and the Yellow Jackets won both games played last weekend in the Gettysburg Tip-Off Tournament in Pennsylvania. R-MC opened the year on Friday with a 97-71 triumph over Eastern, and then defeated the host school, Gettysburg College, 62-59, on Saturday.
