🐾 Showing up and trying? That’s already something to celebrate. 💙

Saturday was our AKC Canine Good Citizen testing day, and we had some pretty incredible dog-and-handler teams come out and put their skills to the test — including teams taking on the Advanced Canine Good Citizen (CGCA)! 🎉

Some walked away with ribbons, and some discovered one or two things that still need a little more practice. And you know what? We’re proud of every single one of them.

A test is just a snapshot of where you and your dog are today. One item doesn’t erase all the work you’ve done. You go home, practice it, build that skill, and come back stronger. 💪🐶

Because to me, every person who is out there training, learning, practicing, and spending time with their dog is a rock star. You’re helping your dog learn how to navigate this crazy human world while building a better relationship together — and THAT is what training is really about. ❤️

Congratulations to our newest Canine Good Citizens and CGC Advanced teams! 🏅 And to the teams who are coming back for another try — we can’t wait to cheer you on when you get that ribbon too.

🎓 Graduation doesn’t mean the work is done. It means you’re ready for what comes next. 🐾

Every dog has a different journey. They learn differently, struggle with different things, and progress at their own pace. The goal isn’t for every dog to end up in exactly the same place — it’s to help each dog and human become a stronger team.

Basic Obedience gives you the foundation. Now it’s time to keep practicing, keep learning, and take those skills into real life.

Join us for Let’s Go Walks, practice around other dogs and people, explore new places, and keep building calm, confident behavior in the real world.

Around here, we spend our days talking about dogs, caring for dogs, training dogs, cleaning up after dogs… and apparently STILL can’t resist stopping everything when one of them is being ridiculously cute.

And really, I think that says a little something about the people who work here. ❤️

You can teach policies, procedures and dog-handling skills — but you can’t teach someone to genuinely love the dogs in their care.

Luckily, we’ve got a whole team of people who do. 🐾💛

🍂 Join the DIG IT DOGS Fall 30 Mile Challenge: Labor Day to Thanksgiving!

Ready to get outside with your best friend? 🐾

The goal is simple:

🐕 Walk or hike 30 miles with your dog between Labor Day and Thanksgiving.

Every mile with your dog counts! Whether you take a one-mile walk around the neighborhood or spend the day exploring a hiking trail, it all adds up. Complete 30 miles during the challenge dates, and you’ve reached your goal!

Challenge Rules

🐾 Walks and hikes both count.
🐾 Miles may be completed anywhere.
🐾 Complete your miles in at least five different locations.
🐾 Track your own miles using the honor system (fitness watch, phone app, or written log).
🐾 Complete 30 miles by Thanksgiving — November 26, 2026.
🐾 Finishers will earn an exclusive DIG IT DOGS Fall 30 Mile embroidered patch! Information on how to receive your patch will be provided once you complete your 30 miles.

🐾 THE DIG IT DOGS FAMILY JUST GOT A LITTLE BIGGER… AND I GOT A BRAND-NEW TITLE! 💜

I’m a GRANDMA! 🥹💜

Last week, our family welcomed the sweetest new little member, and I honestly don’t even know if I have the words to explain how excited I am to be a grandmother.

This past week has been a little different for me. My heart and my attention have been exactly where they needed to be — with my daughter, my son-in-law, and now my beautiful new granddaughter as they settle into life as a brand-new family of three. 💜

Family is incredibly important to me, and getting to be there for them during such a huge, life-changing moment is something I wouldn’t trade for anything.

So if I’ve been a little distracted, a little slower to answer, or you haven’t seen quite as much of me on the Dig It Dogs page lately… this is why. 🥰

Thank you to all of our amazing clients for your patience and understanding while I’ve been busy with some pretty important life stuff. And an extra thank-you to my incredible Dig It Dogs team for keeping everything moving while Grandma has been a little preoccupied. 😂🐾

I am so incredibly proud of my daughter and son-in-law, completely in love with this little girl already, and SO excited for this next chapter.

🐾 TIKTOK TUESDAY: Why do we use slip leads at Dig It Dogs?

Simple answer: SAFETY.

When we’re walking dogs in and out of the building, we want to reduce the chance of a dog slipping out of their equipment. Dogs can sometimes back out of harnesses or flat buckle collars—especially if they get nervous, startled, or suddenly decide they really don’t want to go where you’re going. 😅

A properly fitted and properly used slip lead helps prevent a dog from backing out and gives us that extra layer of security while they’re in our care.

It may look like a small detail, but little safety practices like this matter BIG TIME when you’re responsible for someone else’s dog. ❤️🐾
