I am deeply saddened to learn about the passing of my friend and St. Louis music icon, Jesse Raya. I was introduced to Jesse in the late 90s while he was with Mississippi Nights. Initially, he was a bit wary of me, but soon warmed up and provided 89.9 WLCA with numerous opportunities to promote concerts and give away tickets to our listeners and staff. Our college radio station flourished, and I credit Jesse's support as a significant factor in our growth. Our friendship spanned over two decades, and I had the privilege of attending countless shows thanks to him. I will miss his stories, our music discussions, and the time we spent together. My heart goes out to his family and friends, especially his sister Adele and friend Pat Lacey .
I deeply regret that I hadn't talked to him in several months, and haven't visited with him in over a year. Deep regrets.
Thank you for everything, my friend. I will miss you.
