Happy Thursday everyone! I hope you have been enjoying the sunshine despite the wind but good news is around the corner with good forecasts ahead meaning minimal wind and small swells being predicted at the time of this writing (Tuesday morning). There’s not really all that much to report as not many folks have been fishing this past week. Prior to the wind kicking up most anglers heading out into the ocean have been bringing in limits of lingcod and rockfish with the lingcod being a little harder to catch than usual. Perch fishing in the bay and off the shore have slowed but there are still some to be caught, remember surf perch are called that because they live in the surf all year round.

Bear Camp Road Will Open May 13

SOUTHWEST OR—Bear Camp Road will open for public travel for the recreation season on May 13th. Agencies completed plowing operations on May 11th, ahead of schedule due to the winter’s heavy snowpack melting faster than had been anticipated.
All seasonal gate closures, including gates off the Peavine-Serpentine and Galice Access Roads, have been lifted. Motorists are advised to use caution when driving through slide areas.
