You think YOUR commute is bad? 😅
During the 2014 Southern ice storm, Dr. Zenko Hrynkiw )a 62-year-old neurosurgeon) got a call that a patient would die without immediate brain surgery. Problem? He was at a different hospital 6 miles away, and the roads were a frozen disaster.
No ambulance available. No rides. Traffic gridlocked.
So this absolute legend PUT ON A COAT OVER HIS SCRUBS, laced up his OR slip-ons, and WALKED. Six miles. Through a blizzard. Fell down a hill. Got up. Kept going. Even helped other drivers stuck on the road.
"It's not going to happen on my shift," he said.
The surgery? Success. The patient lived. Dr. Hrynkiw said it "wasn't that big of a deal." (Narrator: It was a very big deal.)
