ONE KILLED, THREE INJURED IN FIERY CRASH — A 25-year-old woman from Seven Springs was killed this morning as a result of a one-vehicle accident outside Newton Grove.
At 7:22 a.m., Trooper W.A. Davis with the NC Highway Patrol responded to NC 50 near the intersection with William R. King Road.
According to the NC Highway Patrol, a Chrysler PT Cruiser, driven by Danny Ronaldo Bravo Rodriguez, 23, of 264 Garland Drive, Seven Springs, was traveling east on NC 50 when he ran off the road to the right, causing him to lose control. The vehicle reentered the roadway and then ran off the road to the right a second time, where it collided with a ditch and overturned. The vehicle caught fire a short time later, and was so severely damaged that neither the VIN number nor license plate was legible, troopers say.
In addition to the driver, the vehicle was occupied by three passengers: Melquin Velasques Bravo, 19, Darmaris Velasquez, 25, and Wilder Bravo Rodriguez, 22. All of the passengers shared the same address with the driver.
Darmaris Velasquez was ejected as a result of the collision, and was killed.
The driver and two passengers were transported to Wake Med in Raleigh as a result of the collision, where they're being treated for their injuries.
The Driver, Danny Ronaldo Bravo Rodriguez, was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle, and failure to maintain lane control.
Trooper R. Eric Mellot said that speed was not believed to be a factor, nor was impairment suspected. It is unknown if the occupants were restrained, due to the ensuing fire.
