The ranch is finally almost done, which means we’re getting ready to switch gears a little around here. 🤍

We’ll be stepping back from breeding, showing, and traditional training, and focusing more on rehabilitation and bodywork for equine athletes, while also developing police patrol and Search & Rescue horses.

With our love for disaster and emergency response, law enforcement, and horses, it feels like a pretty natural direction for us. We’ll be combining all of our personal training, experience, and knowledge to produce solid, dependable patrol and SAR horses—right alongside my bodywork, rehabilitation, and alternative therapy work with equine athletes.

Basically, we’re taking all the things we’ve spent years learning and loving and finally bringing them together in one place.

We’ll still have our personal horses and probably the occasional baby because… we know ourselves. 😂 But we’re really excited to see the ranch become what it was ultimately meant to be.

Good horses, meaningful work, and a whole new chapter for us. 🐴🤍

Texas is reminding us who’s in charge this week( and the next). 🥵☀️

101 at 8pm!

When the heat cranks up, don’t just focus on keeping horses cool—make sure they’re replacing what they’re losing.

Fresh, clean water should always be available, and don’t forget the importance of salt. Horses lose electrolytes through sweat, and adequate salt intake helps encourage drinking and supports normal hydration, muscle function, and recovery.

Sometimes the best thing you can do on these scorching days is keep it simple: plenty of shade, fresh water, free-choice salt, and adjust your workload to the weather.

Stay cool out there. 🤠💧

Something a bit more personal. Im super excited to get this going.

Over the years, my work has always centered around one thing—helping horses stay healthier, stronger, and sounder for longer. Whether that’s through athlete development, rehabilitation, bodywork, or equine nutrition, I’ve always believed the best results come from looking at the whole horse.

That curiosity didn’t stop with anatomy and movement.

It led me into traditional herbal practices, old horsekeeping methods, regenerative land management, and the ways horsemen supported their animals long before modern supplements filled the feed room.

So I started compiling my research.

What began as notebooks full of observations has grown into The Natural Horsekeeper’s Guide: Herbs, Crystals & Holistic Wellness for Horses.

Why is the round pen tilted?

It’s one of the questions we get asked the most around here.

And the answer is simple: because we built it that way.

A lot of people look at our round pen and assume the slope is a flaw. Something we’d eventually fix or level out.

Truth is, we’d probably build it exactly the same way again.

The slight incline gives us another training tool.

When horses move across changing terrain, they have to pay attention to where their feet are. They have to shift their balance, reorganize their bodies, and make small adjustments with every stride. That’s where a lot of body awareness and proprioception development happens.

Add a few poles and the challenge increases even more.

One of the things I love most is that the round pen gives us options. We can use the flatter side when introducing something new or helping a horse build confidence. Or we can use the raised side when we want to encourage more balance, coordination, and awareness of where the body is in space.

The ground provides immediate feedback.

A horse that wants to lean, rush, brace, or travel on the forehand has a much harder time hiding it. The terrain doesn’t create the issue—it simply reveals it.

And as riders and handlers, it challenges us too. We have to be more intentional with our timing, our cues, and our own balance instead of relying on perfectly level footing to do the work for us.

Now before anyone thinks we’re out there drilling circles on a hillside, that’s not the goal.

This isn’t where we’re doing hard workouts or endless repetitions.

We’re using it to help horses learn how to use themselves.

To feel where their feet are.

To find balance.

To adapt.

Because real life isn’t perfectly flat, and the best horses aren’t just balanced in a groomed arena.

They’re balanced wherever you point them.

One of my favorite tools for building stronger, more resilient horses doesn’t involve a saddle at all.

These balance pads are a form of passive physiotherapy that challenge the body to stabilize, organize, and strengthen itself from the ground up.

As both an equine bodyworker and competitor, I use them to help develop tendon and ligament strength, improve proprioception (body awareness), and create full-body cross-pattern strengthening. Every tiny adjustment a horse makes on these pads requires muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments, and the nervous system to work together.

This my mare is just learning the basics—standing quietly, finding her feet, and understanding where her body is in space.

My more seasoned horses take it a step further. They’ll cross-balance on multiple pads while flexing, shifting weight, and rocking through controlled movements. Those small exercises create huge benefits over time.

We’ve seen improvements in:
• Sliding stops
• Rollbacks and turns
• Overall body control and coordination
• Reduced wear and tear during cutting work
• Better engagement of the abdominal system
• Stronger neurological connection between the core and hind end

The goal isn’t to make the exercise look impressive. The goal is to create a horse that can stabilize, organize its body efficiently, and perform its job with less compensation.

Sometimes the smallest movements create the biggest changes.
