Have you ever wanted to study the Bible in the comfort of your own home? Well, now's your chance! Ralph McGarity is leading a class that you can attend remotely. Everyone is welcome, regardless of their knowledge of the Bible or church background.

Remote Format: You can attend by phone or Zoom. If you have a phone, smartphone, tablet, or computer, you can participate. You can learn the Bible, meet neighbors, and make new friends in the Gonzales community.

Description: The Community HomeWord class provides Gonzales with an in-depth look at the Bible, and it will soon begin a study of the Book of Leviticus. We’ll learn about the book’s five themes: a holy God, a holy priesthood, a holy people, a holy land, and a holy Savior. We have participants from many church backgrounds and walks of life. We use the book series by Bible expert Warren Wiersbe.* Before meeting each week, Ralph sends out a chapter summary from which he bases the week's lesson. During the session, we study each Bible passage to extract God's message from it, guided by Wiersbe's insights. If God has been calling you to study His scripture or learn more about Him, this class may be the answer.

We will begin studying the book of Leviticus on Monday, July 21, at 5:30 p.m., so that would be a perfect time to join us.

Your Commitment: By attending these one-hour weekly sessions, you will deepen your understanding of the Bible and God. If you prepare in advance by reading the scripture and the weekly summary, you will gain even more of God's wisdom.

Audience: We encourage both those who are homebound and those who are not to attend.

Prerequisites and Participation: No prior knowledge of the Bible is necessary to benefit from this class. Your verbal participation is welcome but optional. So, if you are a shy person or feel you don't know much about the Bible, don't worry.

Technology requirements: If you know how to dial a phone, you can dial in and participate by listening and speaking. If you want a more visual experience, you can use Zoom. Ralph has several years of experience hosting Zoom meetings, and he will gladly help you get set up.

Meeting Time: The class meets every Monday from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Expenses: None.

Next step: If interested, please call or text 830-672-6721 or email [email protected]. Or, if you have used Zoom before, you can click on this link on December 11, 2023, at 5:30:

Region L has released its 2026 Initially Prepared Plan (IPP) — 1,172 pages proposing many water management strategies.

For residents of Gonzales County, the IPP raises serious concerns. The IPP proposes more groundwater production and expanded export — despite the Gonzales County Underground Water Conservation District having already permitted more than 92,000 acre-feet per year of groundwater from the Carrizo-Wilcox aquifer, most of it allocated to exporters.

The Texas 2026 regional water planning process is underway — a critical initiative to plan the state's future water supply. Gonzales and Caldwell Counties are part of Region L, the South …

The following opinion was approved by the GCUWCD board of directors at their July 8 meeting and was submitted to the Inquirer for publication:

As the folks at the Gonzales County Underground Water Conservation District (GCUWCD), we’d like to set the record straight.
