My thoughts on Being a Child & Family Therapist💜
Being a child therapist is more than a career — it’s a calling.
Every day, I have the privilege of stepping into a child’s world, where feelings are big, words are sometimes hard to find, and play is their language. I sit on the floor with them, listen to the stories their hands and hearts tell, and help them untangle feelings they don’t yet have names for.
It’s not always easy. Sometimes, I hear about fears that keep them up at night, anger that no one seems to understand, or sadness that feels too heavy for such small shoulders. And yet — there’s so much resilience, creativity, and hope in these little humans.
Being a child therapist means holding space for tears and giggles. It means celebrating tiny victories: a smile where there was once silence, a brave word, a new way of coping. It’s witnessing the moment a child realizes they’re not “bad,” but rather, deeply loved and capable of growth.
For the families I work with, I see you too — your worry, your love, your desire to do what’s best. And it’s my honor to support you alongside your child, helping you connect, understand, and heal as a family.
This work reminds me every day: children don’t need to be “fixed” — they need to be seen, heard, and believed in.
💛
