Hey guys! I just dropped a new episode of Podcast Answers, and today I am talking all about how good microphone technique will make your show sound a whole lot better. You can have the best or worst mic in the world, but your audio quality really comes down to how you use it.
I share my personal rules of thumb, like keeping a consistent 4 to 8 inches away from the mic, speaking slightly off-axis to avoid harsh plosives, and using a pop filter. I also explain why I prefer using in-ear monitors to check my audio levels without looking like I'm doing a radio show with big, distracting headphones!
If you are watching the video version, you will get a front-row seat to my frustration when my Rodecaster crashes and reboots the exact second I start the live stream! Sometimes you just have to roll with the flow.
What are some of your favorite tips for getting great audio? Let me know in the comments, reach out at podcastanswers.com/contact, or leave me a voicemail at 574-501-4945. Have a safe week and keep on podcasting
