Arachis Press The Arachis Press is a small publisher, presenting meaningful literature for readers of all ages. What is an Arachis and what happens when one is pressed?

Well, arachis is the scientific name for the peanut so I suppose one would have peanut oil! However, it is also a Greek word with the meaning of 'seed.' So we hope to be planting some seeds here and 'pressing' them into the soil of our readers' minds! (If you'll pardon a slightly clumsy and forced metaphor.) Our physical location is actually on a rural highway known as Peanut Road. This was one r

Incidentally, Arachis is not to be confused with nor pronounced like Arrakis, the planet in the novel Dune. The accent is on the first syllable, sort of like Aramis of The Three Musketeers.

This is a picture (via Google Street) of the house in Naples FL where I lived when I was quite young. It's in the Lake Forest area but I won't give the exact address. I used it as the model (even the location) for Joey's house in my Women in the Sun novels, with a few small adjustments (such as giving it an old-school Florida flat roof). It was a brand-new neighborhood back then and very barren; none of that greenery that has grown up around it since!

Incidentally, I have been reading through both novels and fixed a very few typos that persisted in 'One Summer in the Sun.' Haven't found any yet in 'One Christmas in the Sun.' Both available, of course, from Arachis Press (arachispress.com).

We're thinking of combining the three Malvern novels (fantasy by Stephen Brooke) into one big ol' hardcover offering (but keeping them available individually as paperbacks). No idea whether anyone would be interested in something of that sort.
