A rare day with nothing much scheduled in it, so I'm in my happy place. It's chilly out! Comfy clothes and craft time is my thing. Little late 1920's magazine for the dollhouse.

A day in pjs coping with vaccination fever - good day to finish up this little project - a vintage-y knitting basket for the housekeeper. I did some not very perfect knitting on toothpicks which I then cut down to knitting needle size. I also did some crocheted granny squares, also not very perfect, but the effect is good. I'm satisfied. Just need to find a comfy chair for the housekeeper to sit in while knitting or crocheting.

I've made a handful of life-sized quilts over the years. This time I tried making one in miniature. I purposely used fabrics that almost but not quite went with the wallpaper color because this is the housekeeper's room in my dollhouse. My story is that the doll family provided her with a cozy and comfortable room, but furnished it with things not really being used anymore in other parts of the house - a collection of handed down items, more or less. So things would not match too perfectly or look too decorated.

I just finished this bureau for the housekeeper's room. It's from a Julie Warren tutorial and I can't say enough good things about her content. These tutorials (and everything else she does) are fantastic! You'll notice that the bureau and mirror are not a matched set. That's because I imagine this room as a collection of leftover pieces no longer being used in the rest of the house. So while I intend the room to be warm and inviting (the doll family treats their housekeeper very well!) it is definitely not a "decorated" room.

This is the mirror I made for the housekeeper's room. I loved the idea of having things tucked into the frame. She has two photos, a post card, and if you look at the bottom, there is a teeny, tiny movie ticket! But I can't figure out how to photograph this without the mirror reflecting the phone! Anybody know how to photograph mirrors??
