বেশ কিছু দিন যাবৎ সোশ্যাল মিডিয়াতে লক্ষ্য করছি ইসলামী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে ইসলামিক স্টাডিজ কোর্সটি সকলের জন্য (ধর্ম/ব্যাকগ্রাউন্ড নির্বিশেষে) পূর্বের অপশনাল (ইসলামিক স্টাডিজ/বাংলাদেশ স্টাডিজ) পরিবর্তন করে ক্রেডিট কোর্স হিসেবে আবশ্যিক করা হয়েছে। এই সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়ে অনেকেই তাদের নিজেদের মতো করে মতামত দিয়েছেন, রিয়েকশন দিয়েছেন। সবার মতামতকেই আমি শ্রদ্ধা জানাচ্ছি।
তবে এটাও সত্য যে, ইসলামী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রেক্ষাপটে ইসলামিক স্টাডিজ বিষয়টি থাকবে নীতিগতভাবে এটা যথেষ্ট যৌক্তিক।
আমি সে দিকে যাচ্ছি না। একজন শিক্ষা গবেষক হিসেবে আমার ‍যুক্তিটা ভিন্ন জায়গায়- সেটা হলো যে শিক্ষার সাথে শিক্ষার্থীরা তাদের কোন স্বার্থ বা সংযোগ খুঁজে পায় না সেটা প্রকৃত শিক্ষা হয় না এবং শিক্ষা গবেষণায় সে ধরণের শিক্ষাকে নিরুৎসাহিত করা হয়েছে। এখন প্রশ্ন হচ্ছে তা হলে ইসলামী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রেক্ষাপটে কি করণীয়?
আমার কাছে সহজ উত্তর আছে সেটা হলো সম্প্রতি দেখলাম ইবিতে তুলনামূলক ধর্মতত্ত্ব নামে একটা ফ্যাকাল্টি/বিভাগ খোলা হয়েছে তাহলে আমরা যদি তুলনামূলক ধর্মতত্ত্ব নামে একটা সাবজেক্ট/কোর্স (বিষয়বস্তু গুরুত্বপূর্ণ) আবশ্যিক করতে পারি তাহলে সব ধর্ম ও ব্যাকগ্রাউন্ডের শিক্ষার্থীরা বিষয়বস্তুর সাথে তাদের স্বার্থ বা সংযোগ খুঁজে পাবে বলে আমার বিশ্বাস। এতে বিদ্যার প্রতি তাদের মনোযোগ আকর্ষিত হবে, বিষয়ের প্রতিও তারা এনগেজিং থাকবে। এটা শুধু আমার ধারণা বা বিশ্বাস নয়, এটা জগতের বড় বড় শিক্ষাবিদগণের মতামত এবং গবেষণার ফলাফল।
সংশ্লিষ্ট সকলে বিষয়টি ভেবে দেখতে পারেন। এ বিষয়ে বিস্তর গবেষণা রয়েছে। তবে আগ্রহীরা প্রাথমিকভাবে নিম্নের প্রবন্ধটি পাঠ করতে পারেন:
