What up, itâs been a minute! Life got crazyđĽ
Big shoutout to for sharing this unique clear liquid, I was so intrigued when I saw this and Iâm excited to review it. Letâs get to itâŹď¸
A little background on this: This is NOT White Dog. This is a Sextro rye whiskey that was aged in a barrel and was a brown liquid. It was then sent through the distilling process again or âRe-Distilledâ to see if it would affect the barrel influence, making the liquid clear again like white dog. A unique experiment.
Pink Lightning Rye
Age: NAS
Proof: 145 Proof / 72.5% ABV âŁď¸
Nose: cotton candy, bubblegum, slight ethanol
Palate: Floral-Herbal-Grassy, cotton candy transfers, licorice, craft notes, soft oak
Finish: barrel aged influence still exists here, doesnât drink 145, mid finish, sweet, rye spice
Overall, this is a unique process so I suggest going into it with an open mind. Itâs very candy-like in the nose, which is nice, but that slight ethanol threw me off. On the palate, you get that floral/hay note that you get from younger ryes and reminds me of a very small craft distillate. The finish gives you that slight oak sweetness and the influence for its barrel aging time (some people may think you lose that oak if itâs double-distilled which is not the case here), with a nice rye spice.
If youâre looking for something unique to add to the bar and share with some friends, this is one to consider! Itâs not your typical rye whiskey that you see on shelves, I mean Iâve never seen a âclearâ whiskey at all on shelves. Again, big thanks to for sending one over to review!
