On July 22, 2026 Michigan enacted a law requiring K–5 teachers who instruct reading or language arts to complete state-approved "science of reading" literacy training by the 2031–2032 school year. The Department of Education will select at least two vendors annually to provide the training (LETRS/Lexia has been frequently mentioned), and the state has already allocated significant funding for rollout and teacher stipends. Below is the vendor website to learn about their training programs, timelines, costs, and enrollment options.

The MI DOE is training Pre-K–6 educators with evidence-based practices for reading instruction through this LETRS professional learning opportunity.

We’re excited to share a short video about MEERA — a K–12 manufacturing education program sparking interest and building workforce skills starting in grades 6–8. By partnering with students, parents, schools, and local employers, MEERA creates a direct pipeline to in‑demand careers and helps close the skills gap.
