1 Week Adventure at The Hive 🐝

🇩🇴 When we had the opportunity to return to WorldSchooling hub on the Dominican Republic’s North Shore this Spring, we jumped at the chance!

We were here last for the Jan/Feb session in 2023, and it was the first worldschool hub that our kids ever attended. It also was one of our most favorite family adventures, and we had been itching to come back for over 3 years 🥲

🌊 This time around we planned to return with some friends from home and joined in on a brief, “taster” sessions (most of the sessions here are 6 weeks long).

Our kids spent the week making new friends, learning to handcraft harpoons, splashing in various pools and beaches, catching tons of tiny creatures, and learning from one of the most amazing educators I’ve ever met. The joys were especially excited to see the plants they planted last time we were here thriving!! The team at the Hive are just incredible humans, and we are so thankful our kids have had the privilege of learning from them 🙏

We had the absolute best week, and my kids have both asked me, everyday, when we are coming back next and if we can stay for 6 months next time 😳 the older they get, the more they push back on long family trips so it was really encouraging to hear them ask this… they must really love it here 🥰

🐝 If you have any interest in learning more about the Hive, their future sessions, or what it’s like to worldschool here, send me a DM! I’m always happy to chat 🤗

🏛️ When we planned a March trip to Greece, we knew the water would be too chilly for swimming in the sea. We turned our focus to the archaeological sites & all the WorldSchooling opportunities that come along with the history of Ancient Greece, as well as the mythology! We really enjoyed visiting these sites (especially without the crowds of summer) 🌍

🇬🇷 We spent 5 weeks in Greece and visited Crete, Rhodes, Santorini, Athens, & the Peloponnese. There are archaeological sites galore in Greece so it’s easy to visit new ones every day!

✨ Here’s our top 6 favorites:

1️⃣ Lindos Castle: perched over the scenic, seaside town of Lindos, this place was grandiose with lots of information posted about the eras it survived and the influences of the Greeks, the Byzantines, and the medieval influences.

2️⃣ Theater of Dionysos: from where we entered the acropolis, this was the first historic site we saw in Athens. The sheer scale of the construction just blew us away!

3️⃣ The Stadium of Ancient Olympia: we are Olympics nerds and love the competition of human excellence! Of course we all had to run back and forth on this “track” to channel our inner Greek athletes.

4️⃣ Palace of the Grand Master of the Nights: This is easily one of the most impressive medieval castles in Europe (at least from what we have seen). It feels like stepping straight into the world of crusaders and kings.

5️⃣ Mystras: the breathtaking Byzantine town on a hilltop near Ancient Sparta is expansive. It’s known for being remarkably well-preserved.

6️⃣ Parthenon: it was definitely the busiest place we visited on our entire trip to Greece, but scale of this is unbelievable and definitely worth a visit!!

🗣️ Do you like to visit archaeological sites when you travel, or are you easily bored by history lessons? Where is the coolest historical site you’ve ever visited?

🏖️FULL FAMILY SUMMER CAMP☀️

📬 Send this to someone who is looking to have an epic family adventure this summer!

✨ What if summer break could be a transformational family experience instead of just fun for the kids?

Summer camp was a highlight of my childhood. I loved the independence, the new adventures, and the time getting to play with new kids 🤗

🌍 Boundless Life is reinventing the idea of summer camp with their summer sessions for the whole family in 8 amazing locations around the globe.

Instead of campfires and mess hall dinners, imagine culturally immersive activities and trying new cuisines from places like Uruguay, Portugal, or even Indonesia ✈️

🇲🇪 Our family did a month long summer camp in Montenegro back in 2024 with Boundless Life, and it was truly a life highlight!

Atlas and Isle spent their days working on projects and taking field trips with other kids from around the world while us parents got to have adventures of our own which included a ton of days on the water because nothing beats a summer boat day on the Adriatic Sea 🌊

🤓 Boundless also organized full family field trips and events where we all got to experience things together. It is such a special way to bond as a family unit and create connections with likeminded families while living, learning, and thriving in a new place.

If you’re ready to book that trip of a lifetime or just want more information, comment “CAMP” below, and I’ll send you the details and a sweet discount 💸

🗣️ Did you go to summer camp at a kid? Are you planning to send your kids?

How does one properly pose with bottles of wine?🍷

Don’t ask me 🤷‍♀️🤪

This winery was our third attempt at doing a tasting here on Crete this month, but so much of the island is closed right now in preparation of tourist season which begins May 1.

Although the photos turned out questionable at best, we loved getting to do a wine tasting at . We are not huge wine people, but we felt like we couldn’t come all the way to Greece and not experience it!

🗣️ Are you a wine person?

Baby Ocean 💓’s Crete!! 🇬🇷

Our girl is really growing up. This is the first beach trip where she’s really interested in playing in the sand and water! It’s so fun to watch her explore & discover the ways of the world … even if it’s just barely warm enough to call it a beach trip haha 🥲🤗

🗣️ Can you remember your kid’s first time playing at the beach? Where were you?

We are so stoked to be exploring the island of Crete, Greece this month with Wander & Wonder: the Traveling Adventure School 🇬🇷

Traveling to Greece has been a lifelong dream for me, and I’m over the moon that I get to experience it in this way, with my family. We are excited to eat all of the things, see all of things, and do as much as we can (despite it being the shoulder season here right now). We have some time to travel around the country a bit after the worldschool hub ends so I’d love any tips or advice!!

🗣️ Have you been to Greece?! If so, please drop all of your suggestions below 🙏

⛷️ I finally got to share my most favorite ski resort with my family this past week 🥲

Growing up in Ouray, Telluride was my “home mountain”. I used to go every weekend in middle school, and I loved it…

but I truly had no idea how blessed I was to get to be skiing at one of the best places in the entire world!

We’ve camped in Telluride quite a few times as a family. I really love the area. So when Scott won 4 lift tickets in a golf tournament last fall, it was time to plan a full ski trip here! The boys spent 2 days in ski school, and Scott and I hit it hard (20 times up the lifts on the second day?!!).

Isle is a daredevil on the mountain, and I feel like I’m going to have a heart attack every time I watch him go down 🤦‍♀️🤪😵‍💫

We all had such a great time (despite my super sunburned face). We will definitely be back for another skiing adventure 💞

🏔️ You know what they say, “If you’re lucky enough to live in the mountains, you’re lucky enough” … We sure are lucky to live in Colorado!! 🥹

🗣️ Do you ski or snowboard? Which Colorado ski resort is your favorite?
