Americana/folk singer-songwriter, Andy Sydow is a jack-of-all-trades. An accomplished multi-instrumentalist who's lyrics paint a picture of poetic realism, the Colorado native tours constantly both solo and with a backing band. Throughout the course of a show he’s known to croon an audience with acoustic guitar ballads, sing a few numbers on his lap steel, and even sit down at the keys to show off his surprising boogie-woogie piano chops.

Sydow has toured internationally and received accolades from LA Music Critic and No Depression. On top of that, the last three years have seen the release of over a dozen tracks Sydow produced for other artists, including Lauren Frihauf and Payge Turner (The Voice, Season 19).

Spring is Here!
Greetings music explorers

For 25 years, KAFM Community Radio has been more than just a station—we’ve been a voice for the unheard, a stage for the undiscovered, and a hub for the unexpected. We’re radio outside the box, bringing you diverse music, thought-provoking discussions, and independent programming you won’t find anywhere else.

KAFM thrives because of our community—because of you. As a listener-supported, volunteer-powered station, we rely on your generosity to keep independent radio alive and vibrant.

Now, we’re asking for your support. Our Spring Fund Drive is coming April 4th to 11th, and our goal is to raise $25,000.00 by April 30th to keep KAFM strong. Your gift ensures that we can continue to bring fresh voices, unique programming, and truly independent radio to the airwaves.

A Gift of $60, $120, or any amount helps us:

🎙Keep our diverse lineup of local DJs on the air
🎶 Support emerging and independent artists
📡 Maintain and improve our broadcast signal
🎭 Host community events that bring people together

Would you consider making a contribution today? You can donate securely online at KAFMcommunityradio.org, call us at 970-241-8801, or visit the station. Plus, we have exclusive thank-you gifts for donors, including Radio Room Vouchers, T-shirts, and Hats!

KAFM is not corporate radio. It’s your radio-Radio outside the box. And with your support, we’ll keep pushing boundaries for another 25 years and beyond.

Thank you for being part of the KAFM family!

Join us in the KAFM Radio Room for David Starr’s Must Be Blue album release party!

David Starr is a seasoned singer-songwriter whose soulful blend of Blues and Americana has produced over eleven albums and earned him prestigious showcases at Folk Festivals around the world. He has shared stages with John Oates, John McEuen, and many more, while independently touring over 70 dates annually across the U.S. and abroad. Endorsed by Breedlove Guitars, Starr even developed a signature model. His recent releases—including the collaborative acoustic album Starr & Stucky and the vibrant Better Me—exhibit his raw talent, sharpened storytelling, and continued evolution, building on the momentum from his single-a-month covers project, Touchstones, and the John Oates–produced Beauty & Ruin.

Mark Prentice is a Grammy-winning producer and prolific multi-instrumentalist based in Nashville, known for his work with Elvis Costello, The Fairfield Four, Lyle Lovett, and many others across Country, Pop, and R&B. With a co-writing credit on the country hit “Lipstick” and extensive touring experience, including stints with The Young Rascals and Don McLean, Mark’s industry contributions are vast. His wife, Michelle Prentice, is an award-winning vocalist whose performances range from Sarajevo Symphony concerts to collaborations with Mike Reid and Bebe Winans. She has starred in original cast productions by acclaimed songwriter Marcus Hummon and toured with Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Felix Cavaliere. Together, Mark and Michelle reside in Nashville, continuing to shape the music scene through production, performance, and songwriting.

About Us

Mission Statement

KAFM is a member-supported, volunteer-oriented community radio station dedicated to excellence and diversity in musical, cultural and public service programming. KAFM fills a vital role in the Grand Valley of Western Colorado as an accessible forum for the presentation of music, arts, culture and information by and for the local community.

Our Solar Initiative

During the week of April 6, 2008, the switch was thrown -- and, as fast as an electron, KAFM's dream to become the first partially solar-powered radio station in the Grand Valley became a reality. If you've driven by the station at 1310 Ute Avenue, you've seen the 20 180-watt panels now lining the top perimeter of the building. These panels reduce KAFM's power bills by up to 30%, and represent the station's commitment to steward its resources in an intelligent, sustainable and responsible way.
