“The day Lisa Beard retired, they sent an email to President John Marshall about unaddressed maintenance concerns and the poor living conditions of the Jay Tolman Residence Hall. The now-retired custodian and CMU alumnus included 14 images of the residence hall in their message. The Criterion received the April 29 email from an anonymous source.

Beard commented on multiple points about the building’s lack of maintenance”.

“Record Store Day (RSD) was on April 18, and celebrated independent brick and mortar record stores around the world. The tradition itself first started on April 19, 2008. RSD brings people together to celebrate vinyl and vinyl culture. Thousands of limited records are pressed special for hundreds of different albums across a variety of genres.

RSD is one of the busier days for record stores around the world. At Triple Play Records on Main St in Grand Junction, the first 100 people got an exclusive poster made by Rhyan Montgomery while supplies lasted”.

“In the latest escalation of the protein fad, bottles of protein-enhanced water greet me at the City Market checkout line. This is a step too far, not everything needs added protein.

According to the Mayo Clinic, the average adult needs 0.8 g of protein per kilogram of bodyweight. Even athletes only need 1.2-1.7 g/kg, meaning that an average adult only needs 64-96 grams of protein per wwday, divided among all meals and snacks.

This is commonly simplified into 20-30 grams per meal, which is easily achievable. A simple meal of chicken, rice and vegetables has 25 grams of protein. For most people, there is no need for supplements”.

“Women’s rugby won a decisive 17-0 victory in the DII Nationals over the weekend of April 25. The Mav’s roster is smaller than many of the teams they faced this season. Instead of treating this as a weakness, the team made this part of its identity.

Coach Mackenzie “Mack” Lewis’ whistle penetrated the stubbornly chilly April evening. Behind Foster Field House, the rugby team calls the Football Practice Complex field their home for the 2026 spring season”.

“Three candidates are running for a seat in the House of Representatives in Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District this year. The primary election is on June 30. That election will decide which names appear on the ballot in November. Students associated with political groups on campus expressed concerns over job security and gas prices.

Incumbent Jeff Hurd runs unopposed after President Trump-endorsed candidate Hope Scheppelman dropped out of the Republican race on March 20. Democratic candidates Alex Kelloff and Dwayne Romero both want to flip the consistently red seat. The last Democrat to represent the 3rd District was John Salazar in 2009.

The Criterion spoke with Kelloff and Romero. Hurd did not respond to requests from the Criterion”.
