I want to STRESS to y'all that building & establishing a relationship with a quality veterinarian begins with a phone call when the receptionist answers the phone. Schedule an appointment to "interview" that veterinarian. Yes I said INTERVIEW! Before they ever even meet your precious .
Find out their practice philosophy & their views on preventive meds, vaccinations, USDA & FDA Regulations where our animals are concerned. Does the vet's thoughts align with your beliefs? Are they only interested in vaccination, euthanasia & quick things to bring in revenue or are they in the profession to assist us in providing the best care for our animals? Do they snub at the mention of breeder? I have a long list of questions I ask when interviewing a vet & these are only a few. I'm not that person who walks in & rolls with whatever the Dr. said because I expect they know best. IT'S JUST NOT LIKE THAT THESE DAYS. If you value your pet and you want the best care for your pet, do not be afraid to ask questions and refuse services if their ideas do not align with your gut feeling and your own ideas..
I'm more than happy to share my list of questions and thoughts when I interview a veterinarian with any of you who wish to have that list.
