On October 13, 2011, our police department lost Officer Trevor Slot.
On that day, Officer Slot was working as our 59th District Court Security Officer but upon hearing a radio transmission involving a police pursuit of armed robbery suspects heading towards the City of Walker, he took initiative to respond to the area and deploy stop sticks.
In that effort, Officer Slot was fatally struck by the suspect vehicle.
The tragedy of this day will forever be remembered by our department. We will never forget the impact Officer Slot had on those he encountered and the legacy he left behind.
We remember his joy-filled laugh, beaming smile and his jokes for any occasion.
His friendship was marked by sincerity. His work ethic marked by his willingness to take a stand and do the right thing, even when easier options were present.
Most importantly, we remember his unconditional love for his wife and daughters.
Bravery in the face of danger and a generosity that knew no limits.
15 years ago but still we remember.
