Our Founder read something recently that changed how we think about social metrics.

TikTok comments are down 24% year over year. Instagram comments down 16%.

Shares? Up 45% on TikTok. Up 12% on Instagram.

The theory: people aren't done talking about content. They just stopped doing it where the algorithm can see it.

Now it happens in DMs. A group chat. A Slack channel. A meeting where someone says "wait, did you see this."

That's not disengagement. That's engagement most dashboards were never built to track.

Which means the question we've been asking is the wrong one.

Not "did people engage?"

But "did people think this was worth sending to someone else?"

That's a much harder bar to clear. And one our team is always chasing for our clients.

One of our favorite parts of what we do at The Social G Co. is getting to be a small part of our clients' celebrations, milestones, and success.

Yesterday, we got to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Bell's Home Furnishings a third generation, family owned business in Rockford, Michigan.

If you know the Bell family, you already know what great people they are. Helping established, local brands like Bell's reach new audiences and tell their story on social media is exactly why we love this work.

75 years in West Michigan doesn't happen by accident. It happens because of people like Lindsey, Tom, and the whole Bell family and team, who've shown up for this community generation after generation.

Congratulations to all of you. Here's to reaching the next milestone...100 years! 🤩

She's been in digital marketing since 2012. Before "content creator" was even a job title. Kherington specializes in storytelling for personal brands and businesses, plus influencer marketing that actually feels human.

She's originally from the 810 (east side represent), calls GR home now,
and no matter what city she ends up in, experiencing it like a local is a top priority. Give her an hour and you'll walk away with the best cocktail spot in town AND the pop culture tea you didn't know you needed.
