Big changes are coming to the westside of Grand Rapids 🏠

A developer on Wisconsin is planning to redevelop the vacant stocking elementary school on the west side into a 48 unit affordable housing project.

The project would have two buildings. Converting parts of the old school into homes and a bit of community space.

The project wasn’t without pushback as neighbors and community organizations believe the loss of the building is a downside for the community.

The planning commission is set to vote on approval for this project on September 10th.

What are your thoughts on the plans for this former GRPS school?
