Firefighters from Clackamas Fire District No. 1, Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue and Gladstone Fire District battled a three-alarm fire at the Grand Ronde Tribe-owned Blue Heron Paper Mill site in Oregon City on Saturday, Dec. 5. The fire required the use of large aerial ladders to contain the blaze. The fire is currently under investigation. No injuries were reported and a damage estimate was not available. 3-alarm fire in Oregon City at old Blue Heron paper mill

The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde have owned the former Blue Heron Paper Mill site since August 2019 and are in the process of buying an adjacent half-acre lot next to the property. Oregonian news reports call it a "serious blaze" with firefighting crews applying large amounts of water.

The OR 22 Sourgrass Creek Culvert Replacement project is under construction, and the first of four full weekend closures begins on Friday, May 31 at 7 p.m. and goes through Monday, June 2 at 6 a.m. These are complete closures of the road at MP 11.3 and no thru traffic will be allowed. Our recommended detour during these full weekend closures is U.S. 101 and OR 18.
